Learning Environments

Creative Learning is a small, 29-place service with a great range of engaging spaces to keep children playing and learning all day long!

Take a glance at our beautiful environments below, and book a tour to find out more about how our learning environments encourage children to learn and develop.

Indoor

Our Little Library

In our entry foyer, we have our ‘Little Library’, set up with plenty of books available for children to engage with.

We swap out our classroom books each week, but children are welcome to bring in any book of interest from our library.

Children are also able to borrow books to take home, ensuring every child has access to a range of literature for growing minds!

Our educators may hold group times in our Little Library area, which children love as it is a special place away from the main playrooms and helps children to develop a love for reading and encourages early literacy skills.

Playrooms

We have 2 large indoor playrooms, separated by a half-wall. These spaces are set up with resources in an engaging manner that is based on educator observations of learning interests, as well as those requested by children. Our educators aspire to spark curiosity and facilitate both child-led and teacher-led learning opportunities.

Lockers

Children have access to their own belongings stored in what we refer to as their lockers (cube storage), labelled with their name. This helps to encourage self-help skills, independence, and a sense of belonging, as children can see there is a place that is reserved just for them.

Calm Corner

Adjacent and open to the classrooms is the service office. A corner of the office is set up into what we call our ‘Calm Corner'. This space is designed to be a safe space for children who are experiencing big emotions to come and calm their bodies as a self or co-regulation tool. There is a comfy couch, sensory toys, and books available for children to use for this purpose. Our director or an educator will stay with children using this space and offer support to children to ensure they are feeling supported and cared for at all times.

Children’s Bathroom

Our children’s bathroom has access from indoors or outdoors, adjacent to the playrooms and covered verandah. This allows children to freely access the bathroom, no matter where they are within the service. With windows for visibility and supervision purposes, our educators will support children with their nappy change or toileting needs that is both responsive and respectful to the child’s capabilities and every stage of their toilet training journey.

Outdoor

Astro Turf

The astroturf section of our playground provides a fantastic layout for educators to set up activities to promote gross motor development, such as space to run, obstacle courses to navigate, ball games such as soccer or basketball, balance beams or even parachute games!

Cubby House

Our cubby house is a fantastic place for dramatic play experiences where children can develop social skills, connect their understanding of the world around them to their play and let their imaginations run wild!

Children love playing house, turning the cubby into a super-secret spy HQ, space station, shop, cafe, restaurant… the possibilities are simply limitless!

Mud Kitchen

There is no better place to be a child than in a well-resourced mud kitchen! Children get plenty of opportunities for sensory exploration and nature play while using the mud kitchen. Making mud-pies and Wombat Stew while exploring the senses of crunchy dried leaves, soft petals, hard mulch bits, squishy mud, and all the delightful smells, colours, and textures that come along with all sorts of nature play!

Sensory Garden

Our Sensory Garden was developed to provide a space for children to appreciate the beauty of nature. With a mix of predominantly native plants, children can explore smells, colours, shapes, and textures.

The stepping stones also provide a good opportunity for jumping or hopping along as part of active or dramatic play experiences.

Sandpit

Digging holes and building sandcastles, the sandpit is a childcare staple! Children have ample opportunity to explore volume and capacity, the structural stability of different states of sand (depending on how wet or dry it is), social skills, and so much more!

Covered Veranda

Our covered veranda ensures that we can get plenty of time outdoors, no matter what the weather! We ensure that there are environments set up for art and craft, construction, dramatic play, and literacy exploration under our covered veranda.

Community Garden

Our beautiful community garden, located at the front of our building, allows our children to explore plant life cycles and concepts around sustainability. We love watching our plants grow and produce delicious, fresh produce to eat!
